In the cultural capital of our country, in the city of Almaty, the II International Puppet Theater Festival "Almaty Puppet Festival – 2024" will take place from October 21 to 24 as part of Republic Day celebrations. This unique event will feature the best theater troupes from 11 countries, including China, Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Georgia, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Bashkortostan, and Kazakhstan. In addition to showcasing a variety of atmospheric performances with unusual puppet characters, the festival will host informative creative meetings and master classes.
This international theater event is organized by the Almaty State Puppet Theater with the support of the Almaty city administration. The festival aims to introduce audiences to contemporary puppet theater performances, strengthen international creative ties, and create a platform that will inspire creative minds in the theater field.
"We are holding our own festival, which has become a very important celebration for us, for the second time. Last year, when we held this large-scale event for the first time, puppet theaters from six countries participated. However, this year, there are troupes from 11 countries. For us, this is a significant indicator of the prestige and reputation of our festival," noted Almat Abdrahmanov, the director of the theater.
